The permits and paperwork are in place! The full building permit for Phase I construction was issued Monday, June 9— allowing for the official start of construction on the new Rapid City campus next week. Gustafson Builders and CAO Mark Niemeyer completed a walkthrough of the site this week, finalizing equipment staging areas, site security and mapping out where contractors will begin demolition.
“Starting the demolition process is a colossal win,” said Mark. “Reaching the point where we can confidently say, ‘This is what we are doing and how we are going to do it,’ is an exciting milestone for CHS.”
Dust will officially start flying within the next few weeks, and the project remains on track for completion by fall of 2026.
