Welcome to the CHF Board, Laura Johnson!

At the April CHS Quarterly Board Meeting, the Foundation Board appointed Laura Johnson to a three-year term!

Laura is a retired educator and member of the National Association of Music Educators. She is also a nationally registered EMT. Originally from Sturgis, she attended college in the Black Hills, where she received a BA in Education. She later earned an MA in Administration at Grand Canyon University.

Laura and her husband Bill have four children—Robin, Keri, Katie and Brad—and 12 grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoys reading, walking and sports.

Laura is no stranger to CHS—she and her sister Marcia lived at CHS for three years before being adopted. She remembers Christmas programs, playing with dolls and truly feeling at home at CHS. As an adult, Laura returned to CHS and served nine years on the Children’s Home Society Board, including a term as Board President. Welcome home, Laura!

Dustin Morrison Leaves CHF Board

After six years on the Society Board and nearly a year on the Foundation Board, Dustin Morrison is stepping away from the Board.

Dustin is Investigations Captain at the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office where he has worked for more than 21 years. He received the Partners Protecting Kids Award from CHS in 2015.

His law enforcement background has brought a valuable perspective to the Board and the committees he served on. While Dustin was on the Society Board, he was involved with the Nominating Committee and the Crisis Care and Prevention Programs Committee. He also chaired the Culture and Leadership Committee and the Service Excellence Committee. This past year on the Foundation Board, he served as the chair of the Advancement Committee.

We are grateful for Dustin’s time, leadership and contributions to both Boards, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.
